London Elle Festival 2014 in London - organised by : Athula Dassana Multi-Culturel Buddhist Community Centre

The first ever Elle tournament outside Sri Lanka was organised by Athula Dassana Multi Cultural Buddhist Community Centre in 2012. The Elle Festival was organised for third time on the 24/08/2014 at Little Harlington Playing Fields ground, Heathrow. The Chief organiser of the event was Venerable Wanduramba Kassapa Thero who is the chief incumbent of the Athula Dassana International Buddhist Temple. The event concluded successfully with the support of all Sri Lankan residents in and around the London area.
The chief guest of the event was Mayor of Harlington Councillor Catherine Dann. In addition Councillor Dr.Tania Mathias and Councillor Mr.Manjeet Buttar. Mr.Niranjan Pathirathna from The Sri-Lankan High Commission also resided. The chief guest specifically commented on the importance of events of this nature, which promoted a national game. The special feature of the event was that it was open to all religious communities without prejudice. lle bats and balls were specially made and provided by the Association of Elle, Sri-Lanka. The Development Lottery Board and Maliban Biscuit of Sri Lanka were the sponsors of the T- Shirts. Estetica Dental Clinic sponsored the caps which highlighted the Logo of Athula Dasssana Multi Cultural Buddhist Community Centre. This is the Charity under which The Athula Dassana Buddhist Temple is governed.

Heathrow Vihara - Athula Dassana International Buddhist Temple - Vesak Celebrations

On the 10th of May 2014, Athula Dassana International Buddhist Temple celebrated Vesak Day with a 80 Great Disciples of Lord Buddha. There were 80 beautiful flower arrangements and offerings to Lord Buddha and the Disciples of 'ashta paana'. The devotees brought 'Poojas' to bring them great blessings from the day. Approximately 100 devotees attended the blessing day which was held at Lampton School Hounslow TW3 4JW.
The hall in the school was decorated so beautifully with Vesak lanterns depicting the 80 disciples.
The blessing ceremony was conducted by Ven.Thissapura Sugatharathana Thero from the Birmingham Jethavana Buddhist Vihara. Also attended were Ven. Dediyawala Vimala Thero and Ven.Mathugama PalithaSamith Thero from Letchworth Buddhist Temple attended. A beautiful ceremony was conducted to remember the good qualities of the disciples from Kondanna Thero to Sabhiya Thero. The remembrance finished with Pirith Chantings.
All the devotees were offered traditional Sri-Lankan dahl, pol sambol with bread at the end of the ceremony. The event gave a lot of blessings to all and was once again a great successful event organised with the guidance of Ven.Wanduramba Kassapa Thero. We thank all who helped to make the event a success and all who generously bought 'poojas', which aid to maintain our Buddhist Temple.

New Year Celebration at Heathrow Athula Dassana International Buddhist Temple - 13th April 2013

Sri Lankan New Year Celebration organised by the Athula Dassana International Buddhist Temple was held at the Hounslow Lampton School, Lampton Avenue, Hounslow, TW3 4EP on 13th April 2013. Venerable Wanduramba Kassapa , Head of the Centre welcomed the gathering followed by a lecture based on Sinhala & Tamil New Year in Sri Lanka
New Year games took part under the guidance of Mr Bandara Wekadapola with the help of committee members of the temple. There had around 50 games which were relate with the New Year. Not only for the younger generation and also had games for any age limits. Every ones enjoyed participating in the Traditional Sri Lankan New year games such as breaking the clay pot in blindfold, sack race, blowing balloons, pillow fights, guessing the amount of seeds in a Papaya, were very popular with the games on the day. Independence Day Celebrations at Heathrow Athula Dassana International Buddhist Temple - 2nd February 2013

Sri Lanka’s 65th Independence Day celebrations organised by the Athula Dassana International Buddhist Temple was held at Lampton School, Lampton Avenue, Hounslow, TW3 4EP on 2nd of February 2013. The theme of this year’s celebration is "The meaning of Independence" The Athula Dassana International Buddhist Temple Dancing group ”Saro”, Roshan Lute leads with his group was presented items of highlighted the independence of Sri Lanka. And also Visharada Weerasiri Malwatta and their Family were presented the songs which were help to highlighted for this cultural programme. The children of Dhamma school, they were also joined several events of this programme. H. E. Athula Dassana International Buddhist Temple Celebrates its 1st Anniversary (Heathrow Viharaya) - 7th July 2012

Athula Dassana International Buddhist temple held its one year anniversary celebrations successfully at the temple premises on Saturday 7th July 2012. This day was special as devotees and other members of the community could remember the past events of the year organised by this temple under the guidance of the head of the temple Ven.
