Welcome to the Sinhala and Tamil New Year celebrations.
We would like to extend our heartfelt and respectful greetings to our distinguished guests who support our festival. We would like to say ‘Blessings to all our sponsors and donors!’ Your generous support every year helps to promote and make our religious and cultural festivals a reality. We do not use public funds for our festivals. Therefore, the generosity of our donors is truly appreciated.

We Sincerely Thank you for Your continued Support of our Vihara.
We are happy to recall that last year we were able to successfully hold the Athula Dassana Sinhala Tamil New Year Festival, and with the funds raised from it, we were able to build two classrooms for the children of Madatugama Murungahiti Kanda Vidyalaya in the Kekirawa area of Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka.

Heathrow I welcome you to the Sinhala and Tamil New Year celebrations organized by the Athula Dassana International Buddhist Vihara.
Wishing you all a wonderful, happy, healthy and prosperous Sinhala and Tamil New Year! May the Three Graces bless you.

Wishing all of you who are celebrating the Sinhala and Tamil New Year on April 12, 2025.
I am grateful for the work that the Athula Dassana Multicultural Buddhist Community Centre does to support faith and multi-religious activities, education and culture for the Sri Lankan and Tamil communities in the local area and throughout the wider community. It is also important that cultural celebrations such as the New Year festival bring people from all over the area together and forge strong bonds between all our communities.

Wishing you all a wonderful, happy, healthy and prosperous Sinhala and Tamil New Year! May the three of you be blessed.

We have organised a number of religious and cultural events to honour and respect Sri Lankan culture and traditions. It is also an opportunity to teach our new generations growing up in the UK what it means to be Sri Lankan. The first Sri Lankan New Year celebration was organised in Hounslow in 2012 and was a huge success. The 2020 pandemic did not stop us from celebrating the New Year in a ‘virtual’ way.
We have now expanded our Dhamma school to Aylesbury and are set to hold an New Year celebration there this year.

A sacred moment of pause to reflect, reconnect, and rekindle the values that shape our identity.
As the sun marks a new beginning in the traditional calendars of the Sinhala and Tamil communities, I extend my heartfelt wishes to all Sri Lankans in the UK and around the world as they celebrate this meaningful time of renewal.

Following the customs and traditions of the United Kingdom, this year, for the Sinhala and Tamil New Year 2025
The Sun’s transition from Pisces to Aries marks the completion of the Earth’s cycle around the Sun. This celestial event is deeply rooted in Sri Lankan astrology and symbolizes new beginnings, prosperity, and harmony.

We sincerely Thank you for Your continued Support of our Vihara.
Another community service by the Heathrow Athula Dassana Relief Foundation. Following a request made by the Principal, Faculty and Students of Murungahitikanda Vidyalaya, the Heathrow Athula Dassana International Buddhist Temple has planned to modernize the building, which is currently in ruins, and convert the teachers’ quarters into classrooms.
We Need You to Make a Difference Again This Year!
