The Sri Lankan New Year, also known as "Aluth Avurudu," is a joyous occasion celebrated around mid-April. Unlike the Gregorian calendar New Year, its timing is determined by the transition of the sun from Pisces to Aries, marking the completion of the earth’s cycle around the sun.
